Mission Statement

The mission of the Washington DC Sleep Society is to promote excellence in the areas of sleep medicine, patient care, education and research. By promoting the highest standards in these areas, the Society will serve to represent the District of Columbia sleep community in the advocacy of public policy issues potentially impacting the profession. The Society will serve as a strong and unified voice for all DC Polysomnographic Technologists and Sleep Specialists as the profession advances into a distinct medical specialty. The Society will also serve as a network for the exchange of all sleep related information and ideas.

DC Sleep Technologist Licensure Applications Currently Being Processed by the DC Board of Medicine Health professional Licensing Administration

In 2012, Sleep Technologist licensure is scheduled to take effect in the District of Columbia. As you know, DCSS has been active in this process since our beginning in 2008 and are pleased to see this outcome. The DC Board of Medicine will administer licensure. All Polysomnographers (Technologists, Technicians, and Trainees) are required to apply for licensure/registration and undergo a criminal background check beginning in January 2012. The deadline to submit applications was March 30th, 2012. For new applicants, instructions and application materials can be found at the DC Health Professional Licensing Administration Page.
